CAMPAIGN FOR NATURE ACTIVITIES (GREEN WEEK "SEMANA VERDE")
The school campaign to promote nature-related activities, better known as The Green Week (“Semana verde”) organized by the Bertiz Tourist Consortium in collaboration with the Regional Government of Navarre through the Navarre Institute for Sports and Youth and Caja Navarra takes place from April to the beginning of June in 3-day stretches (from Monday to Wednesday and from Wednesday to Friday) with 80 participants each time.
The campaign is aimed at children in the last stage of secondary education and school children suffering from physical, psychic and sensorial disabilities. In the case of special centres, the programme of activities is adapted to meet the specific characteristics of the participants. Children attending schools in the region are offered the possibility of rafting as a day activity.
Each year the participants stay in the “Valle de Baztan” youth hostel in Lekaroz and take part in aquatic activities (Rafting in the
Errobi
River
and in Bidarrai, canoeing/Hidrospeed on the Bidasoa and abseiling in Elizondo). Participants will also have the chance to enjoy cultural outings (visits to the caves of Urdax, the Narbarte adventure park, rural sports and the projection of activities)
The aim of the campaign is to unite sports with cohabitation and respect of nature.
