MALERREKA
The Valley of Santesteban and Basaburua Menor constitute the area of Malerreka, which is characterized by its abundance of rivers and channels and beech and oak forests.
The municipalities of Doneztebe, Elgorriaga, Ituren, Zubieta, Urrotz, Oitz, Donamaria and Sunbilla form part of the Valley of Santesteban, which is historically also called the Valley of San Esteban or of Lerín. The municipalities of Ezkurra, Eratsun, Saldias and Beintza-Labaien belong to Basaburua Menor, which was historically called Basaburúa de Suso or Basaburúa de Lerín.
