BORTZIRIAK
Igantzi, Arantza, Lesaka, Etxalar and Bera constitute the so-called “Bortziriak”. These are five towns with the historic category of “ville” and whose character has been marked by their proximity with the border and the existence of the first industrial workshops between the XVI-XIX Centuries, the forges.
With the arrival of the age of industrialization, Bortziriak ceased to be a primarily rural region and now marks the location of the highest concentration of industry in the north of
Navarre .
The five towns are nestled on each side of the Bidasoa and the intensely green surrounding countryside is dotted with farmhouses tucked away between the meadows, ferns and pine, oak, beech and chestnut forests.
